Israeli Military Seizes Strategic Fortress in Southern Lebanon
The military said its forces advanced into the Beaufort Ridge and Wadi Saluki area, as part of ongoing operations in the region. The development was also reported by Israeli media outlets, which described the move as a significant territorial incursion not seen in decades, noting that an Israeli flag was raised over the historic fortress at the site.
According to the IDF, the operation is aimed at dismantling Hezbollah’s military presence and targeting infrastructure it claims is used for attacks against northern Israel, particularly areas near the Galilee Panhandle and the border town of Metula.
The army added that the offensive involves large-scale ground forces and is intended to strengthen operational control in southern Lebanon, while alleging that the ridge had been used for coordinating cross-border attacks.
Reports further indicate that the seized position holds strategic value due to its elevation and surveillance advantage over surrounding areas, making it a key point in the ongoing military escalation in the region.
