PSC statement on government plans to extend Palantir NHS contract

News originally published by

Responding to reports in the Financial Times and other news outlets that the British government plans to extend Palantir’s contract with NHS England,

Lewis Backon, PSC Campaigns Officer, says:

It is shameful that the government plans to extend Palantir’s contract with NHS England, handing this disgraced company millions more pounds of public money.

Palantir is deeply complicit in Israel’s ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people, profiting from contracts supplying the Israeli military with technology used in mass destruction and killing. The government’s decision to extend Palantir’s contract is a total contradiction with the Foreign Secretary’s commitment that the British government will act against companies facilitating Israel’s illegal military occupation. The government must immediately reverse these plans and remove Palantir from our NHS.

Right now, Palestinians are continuing to face Israel’s genocide in Gaza and military assaults and ethnic cleansing in the West Bank. Companies, like Palantir, that are enabling and profiting from these crimes must face consequences immediately to stop the violence from continuing. Saying that Palantir may not get a contract years down the line will do nothing to interrupt the crimes from taking place now and will allow Palantir and other companies to continue profiting from war crimes.
